As we transition out of summer, new (chodosh) wheat will soon enter mills. Consumers who are careful with yoshon (i.e. to eat grains planted prior to Pesach 2026) should start checking dates on wheat flour “in the next week or two,” according to the Star-K. For fresh baked goods and all other grain products, there is no need to start checking dates before September 1st at least. Oats and barley can be assumed yoshon for now.
An explanation of yoshon can be seen here, and the Star-K’s most current yoshon guide is accessible here, which will continue to be updated.
