The AKC policy is that plain, unflavored, raw honey can be used even without a hechsher. One must be careful, particularly with imported honey, to make sure it is indeed from a honeybee. Other types of honey, like Melipona or Honeydew, must have a hechsher. Some kashrus agencies only recommend using honey with a hechsher.
